American College of Cardiology - Singapore Chapter

Welcome to the homepage of the Singapore Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). The Singapore Chapter was formed on January 10th, 2012, after it received the official notice from Dr David Holmes, the President of the American College of Cardiology (for 2012), on behalf of the Executive Committee.

This promises to be another exciting year for the Chapter. The next edition of ACC Asia is just round the corner and will be held in Shanghai this year on the 1 st and 2 nd of December. This will provide excellent updates in the cardiovascular field but more importantly the meeting provides practical tips on how the data and guidelines can be practically utilised in the local clinical setting. This meeting will also facilitate networking and discussion with peers and global leaders.

We are planning to do more in the coming 1-2 years. I will continue to promote cardiovascular awareness in the community. The focus this year would be on geriatric cardiology. This is pertinent in Singapore as our population is aging. A few programmes are being planned and would address the unique types of cardiovascular disease in the elderly, so keep an eye out for this!

I would like to also remind our members of the numerous benefits that the ACC offers. The commitment to education remains very strong. There will continue to be free Fellow In Training (FIT)membership for our fellows enrolled in local cardiovascular training programmes. FIT membership includes free access to the JACC, and other ACC online programs. In addition, some of our members can enjoy the benefit of complimentary registrations to the ACC Annual Scientific meeting. I hope that we will continue to grow in strength as our membership increases and together with the local cardiovascular community we can strive towards improving the health of all in Singapore

Yours sincerely

Dr Edgar Tay
